Fellowship in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART)

PN IVF Access Pvt Ltd [IVF Access] offers eligible doctors a chance to pursue advanced specialty training in Assisted Reproductive Technology procedures and best processes. This 1-year rigorous program is intended to increase the availability of trained specialists who focus on reproductive medicine. This program will be directed and managed by a cross-disciplinary unit and anchored by IVF Access inhouse IVF consultant in reproductive medicine. The Fellowship program is a full-time program and offers training and instruction in:

  • Clinical assessment & Medical and/or surgical treatment of underlying infertility conditions
  • ART physiology, and Endocrinology

The tangible purposes of this Fellowship are to ensure expert specialists who have the capability, aptitude, and skill to provide superior quality services which are founded on evidence-based patient care, and

  • Organize and align and advocate for cross-functional collaboration to provide patient care
  • Obtain up to date knowledge in clinical management, instruction, and medical performance monitoring
  • Contribute to research and development in reproductive medicine

Fellowship Eligibility Criteria

The entry requirements for this course are listed as follows:

  1. Education: Applicants must have mandatorily concluded & must be a postgraduate in obstetrics and gynecology from a course approved by the National Medical Commission of India to be eligible:
    • MS (Master of Surgery) awarded by NMC-recognized Institute: In Obstetrics/Gynecology
    • MD (Doctor of Medicine) awarded by NMC-recognized Institute: In Obstetrics/Gynecology
    • DNB (Diplomate of Medicine) or a Diploma course in Gynecology (DGO) offered by a recognized institute (as per register published by the National Board of Examinations)
    • Note: Applicants who have studied in foreign countries (outside India) and passed in clinical courses in obstetrics and gynecology might be eligible to join the Fellowship Programme provided if they possess an Equivalency Certificate issued by the NMC, New Delhi
  2. PCPNDT Registration: Valid registration within state & ability to apply for name to be added to PNDT
  3. Age Limit: The maximum age limit for applying is 40 years
  4. Time & Location: Applicants are required to complete the course within 12 months and be present physically at an IVF Access Clinic (as decided by IVF Access) subject to local holidays and course calendar requirements. Applicants will not be allowed to practice medicine at other establishments for the course duration

Admission Procedure, Locations & Dates & Fees

The Admissions & Academic committee will comprise of IVF Access Clinicians (Bangalore-2, Hyderabad-1) and the Chief People Officer. This committee shall set the admissions standards and will monitor the process of selection, training and conduct of examination. The candidates will be screened in a written test and interviewed orally prior to selection. The One Year Fellowship Programme will commence in October of every year unless otherwise indicated. There would be a mandatory probation period of 1 (one) month during which the aptitude and approach of fellow students will be assessed. All fellow students must mandatorily pass the probation period successfully to continue the Fellowship. The fees for the 1-year Fellowship program will be INR 300,000 (3 Lakhs only) and needs to be remitted prior to beginning of the course. Any and all taxes will be levied over and beyond this amount.

Faculty & Curriculum

IVF Access Academic Board shall constitute the overall faculty for the fellowship program. The Curriculum listed below is subject to modifications by the IVF Access Academic Board. The instruction will be designed according to a prearranged education methodology with specific milestones and events to be achieved periodically and maintained in a logbook. The following sessions are mandatory:

  • Classroom based sessions
    1. Two sessions per month of 1 hour each & 1 case presentation and/or Paper review per week
  • Scientific Productivity
    1. Every fellowship trainee will need to publish/present one paper at a national conference
    2. Every fellowship trainee will need to publish one article in a PUBMED indexed journal

1 – Assessment of infertility couples Clinical diagnostics & evaluation of laboratory investigations

Choice of ART method along with drug prescriptions

Follicle monitoring scans

Normal and Abnormal pelvic anatomy (Uterus, Tubes & Ovaries)

Basic Semenology

2 – Minor Procedures in ART Ovulation induction & Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Observation of procedures – Salpingectomy, Cyst enucleation, Oophorectomy, Endometriosis staging, Adhesiolysis, Transcervical resection of Polyps (TCRP), Myomas (TCRM) & Uterine septum (TCRS)

Counselling in reproductive medicine

Clinical auditing and results evaluation

3 – Major Procedures in ART Follicle stimulations/ monitoring for IVF-ICSI

Oocyte pick up (OPU) and Embryo Transfer (ET)

Testis biopsy and Epididymis aspirations

4 – Laboratory Assessment This is an observational program covering

  1. Exposure to the IVF lab
  2. Donor-recipient programme and
  3. Fertility preservation & Advanced Tech

Exit Examination

The exit examination for the Fellowship will be in the 1st week of September which will include 1) Logbook Review, 2) Viva Voce with the IVF Access Academic Board

The successful candidates shall receive a Certification at the end of their training. The successful candidates may suffix his/ her name with Fellow in Reproductive Medicine (IVF Access). Based on availability of open positions and IVF Access discretion, select fellowship students will be offered follow-on full-time employment at a IVF Access centre in India
